Bianchi Infinito CV

Bianchi Infinito CV Disc Ultegra Di2 12 speed

Counter Vail?

CounterVail Vibration Cancelling Composite Technology:  a viscoelastic material incorporated into the carbon fibre layup of the new Infinito which increases the bike's vibration-cancelling capacity by as much as 75% compared to a regular carbon frame. The idea is to dampen the vibrations that pass through the frame to the contact points.  This turns out to be more effective than other designs that use “rubber inserts” or “isolators."

Bianchi collaborated with Materials Sciences Corp. to develop their innovative and exclusive application of the patented Countervail® integrated vibration canceling system for cycling. The result is the new Bianchi Infinito CV.

Scientific studies prove that long term exposure to vibration, typically absorbed by the rider, causes muscle fatigue and discomfort, resulting in reduced performance ( As noted by the Journal of Sciences and Medicine report. ). Traditional passive damping of the frame using superficial rubber inserts and isolators are only marginally effective compared to the integrated carbon Countervail® system developed by Bianchi and proven in the extreme conditions of NASA aerospace operations.  With its patented carbon fiber architecture and viscoelastic material, Countervail® carbon material, embedded within the unique Infinito CV carbon layup, immediately cancels vibration while increasing the stiffness and strength of the entire frame.

Bianchi only uses this material in key places in the frame (the exact locations are a closely guarded secret).  We have our suspicions but have yet to lay our paws on a candidate for a visit with the hack-saw.  The frame doesn’t pay a weight penalty for the use of this material, coming in at a nicely competitive 950g for a size 55cm.

Bianchi Infinito CV, Best In Show at Interbike 2013.

Like the previous Infinito, the CV is a functionally handsome frame, embodying a nicely Italian aesthetic.  Changes to the old Infinito include internal cable routings compatible with both mechanical and electronic drive trains, a BB30 bottom bracket and a tapered head tube. Which ever angle you view it from, this is a nicely muscular frame that radiates style and confidence.

As a member of BIanchi's C2C (Coast to Coast) range, the Infinito CV is designed with an emphasis on comfort (without sacrificing efficiency) during long days in the saddle.  The Infinito CV has slightly longer wheelbase (longer chainstays), taller head tube and shorter top tube than the Oltre and Sempre, and room for up to 32c tires.   the Infinito CV offers a stable ride with rewarding handling whether you are going up, down or just pounding out the flats.  It’s no mistake this bike was spotted at the early season Classics like Tour of Flanders and Paris-Roubaix, with the Vacansoleil-DCM team. This is a bike designed to deal with rough roads, smoothing out the vibrations that lead to a jarring and uncomfortable ride.

The capacity for fat tires is especially important for any bike which aspires to the ‘endurance’ label. Even the pros have twigged to the benefits of 32c tires for the Classics.  Wider tires offer extra cushioning and a more comfortable ride with no comporomise in rolling resistance.

We (and our customers) have been very satisfied with the previous Infinito, both it's speed and handling were impressive.  But the endurance sector has hotted up in the last few years, Bianchi needed something extraordinary for their line-up.  Our test rides have shown that the Infinito CV is an out of category home run.

ADVANTAGES
• Maximized ride control and handling under normal to extreme vibration loads
• Reduced muscle fatigue and increased energy savings in distance rides
• Increased rigidity and peak power output over long distances
