From easy rides on your favorites roads, to leg-testing centuries and forays into racing, Specialized's Allez Comp Apex Compact has got you covered. Its svelte E5-aluminum frame is paired with a FACT tapered carbon fork for a ride so smooth and responsive, you'll have to swing a leg over it to believe it. And, the Allez Comp is spec'd with a choice spread of Specialized's carbon and aluminum components, too.

      Comments:

This bike is awesome. It was given to me in September of last year and has made me addicted to cycling. It is a very fast bike while being comfortable enough for long rides. You do feel the road a lot because the forks are straight down and rigid for more response rather than being softer and slightly angled, but that is because the bike is made for performance not comfort. The SRAM components are so much better than shimano in my opinion and shift super fast, and the brakes do their job as well as they need to. And at this price you should buy it now!

        Comments:

I have had this bike for two weeks and use it on A & B rides with the bike club that I belong to, and on training rides by myself. This bike is quick, is wonderfully geared, and is a joy to ride. Bike is fast on fast, and even though it is not the most expensive bike on these rides, I feel that it is the best performing. It shifts quickly, is smooth going up hills, and fast fast going down them. It handles well and allows this near 50 year old man to "play" racer on these rides.

        Comments:

This is my first road bike and I am glad the top-end Allez model was on close-out because I otherwise would have probably gone with something less expensive and never known how awesome a tricked-out road bike like this can be. The bike is fast, lightweight, super-responsive, and feels like you could ride it all day comfortably. It comes with the SRAM Apex components whose shifters I far prefer to Shimano. The carbon-fiber forks are designed to absorb road vibration, but I have to admit that on rougher pavement you do feel the bumps quite a bit. That aside, this bike has me looking for excuses to take longer and longer rides and is definitely a gateway drug to more serious cycling. I don't think I could have done much better for the price.

        Comments:

This was my first semi-light bike after owning several steel framed Schwinn's from yesteryear and a nice, old rickety Trek and I didn't know what my level of enthusiasm would be towards road biking after years of mountain biking, so I opted for what I guess is considered a beginner model. I've had it since April 2011 now and have put over 1k miles on it, and still love it. It's an absolute thrill and I didn't break the bank to get it. I have made a few upgrades from stock: new Mavic Ksyrium Elite (waited for sale price a Mike's) and a new Rival crankset with the hollow BB (much improved over the bearing/spindle BB), and that was really a nice set of additions. The CP22 wheelset that came with the bike was more durable than my current, and heavier, but the freehub sounded like a train clunking down the track. My only other comment is that my shoe hits the front wheel when taking a slow turn and peddling through it, but I think that might be typical of a compact design. Overall, a fun bike and I highly recommend it.

I have put 1,850 miles on this Alez this summer and it is still humming along. The components (SRAM) plus the rims combo make it a nice value. No complaints, rides great. The boys at Spokes do a nice of keeping it running smoothly and overall experience is solid.

I bought this bike a month ago and mainly use it for commuting. I do about 100 miles a week. I switched from a Cannondale (hybrid) to this bike. Having never used a road bike before, I was surprised how easily I got used to it. The components are very smooth and the bike runs fast!!! The brakes could be a notch better, but this really is complaining at a very high level. Overall, this is a great bike and I can strongly recommend it.

I have had this bike now for three weeks and I absolutely love it. It is fast on climbs and extremely responsive. I added some Look Keo pedals and bought a pair of Specialized Elite Road shoes and I can now fly. If you are looking for a great bike but don't want to spend a king's ransom this is the bike for you. Also, the folks at Plano Cycling were and continue to be great.
