BIXXIS: Hand Built Italian Road Bikes for the 21st Century

The lugged Epopea evokes the fascination for the epic rides of cycling's golden age. The traditional lugged design is inspired by classic Italian hand-made bicycles ridden by the likes of Merckx, Coppi, Francesco Moser, Gianni Motta and Moreno Argentin. In celebration of Doriano’s earliest works, the Epopea features minimal lugs brazed at low temperatures with silver alloy thus reducing loss of strength due to exposure to high temperatures and ensuring optimal alignment of frame and fork.

While the Epopea's lugged construction results in a comfortable bicycle, it does so without any concessions to road feel or the sense of efficiency expected from modern frames. In the end the Epopea is a comfortable, outstandingly tough and durable frame destined to provide it's owner with nearly endless hours of cycling pleasure. The Epopea can be built with your choice of a modern, 12 speed group set or any of the vintage components from the likes of Campagnolo, Sachs, Simplex or StrongLight.  Available in 13 standard colours. Custom colours are available upon request.

Bixxis Hand Crafted Italian Road Bikes

Welcome to Bixxis:

BIXXIS opened in 2015 inspired by the desire of Doriano De Rosa and his daughter Martina to produce a generation of steel and titanium racing bicycle frames which embodied their taste for true cratsmanship.

Experience BIXXIS Innovation:

Experience and innovation:

BIXXIS is built on Doriano’s 40-years' experience as a frame-builder and student of innovative technological solutions. His and his daughter's passion for cycling is the foundation for the creation of beautiful artisanal bicycles for modern cyclists.

This is why they chose the acronym BIXXIS, which means Italian Bicycles for the twenty-first (XXI) century.  Bixxis’ philosophy grows out of essential values: the taste for well-made things, tradition but combined with their passion for innovation all coupled with sensitivity to the needs of cycling enthusiasts, both professional and amateur.

Bixxis X-Stays

A Taste of Unicity*:

BIXXIS products are entirely hand-made. Each BIXXIS frame is 100% made in Italy, at their Seregno workshop, just few miles north of Milan. They have chosen to use steel and titanium to make frames last longer, and maintain their value. By employing TIG welding BIXXIS creates extremely light metal frames.

Listening their clients is fundamental: they listen before they speak and they also speak little because doing is better than saying. Doriano and Martina will listen to your requirements and queries with an ulmost attention born out of their deep attachment to every frame they produce. Each Bixxis is unique, as are tastes, passions, expectations from each cyclist. Every geometry is the outcome of an in-depth study with specific drawings built from each clients specific requirements.

Talking about unicity BIXXIS wants to offer an original bicycle from its individual elements. For instance, each BIXXIS integrates a customized dropout and is built from  proprietary Columbus tubes, and includes design features such as X-Stays which give the frame more strength and optimize on-road performances.

The Volpe melds the responsive handling of a road bike with the durability of a cyclocross bike. A variety of surfaces and conditions can be conquered thanks to generous tire clearance and proven components. Steel tubing is heralded as the best value for bike construction when it comes to strength and vibration damping. Our exclusive TIG welded, Chromolite steel frame and fork provide a smooth and stable ride on or off paved surfaces. Whether you're navigating your region's rail trail network or working on your Super Randonneur achievement, the need for comfort is paramount. The Volpe features a relaxed head tube angle that is a bit slacker than a standard performance road bike, providing greater control in crosswinds. The Volpe's chainstays have been stretched out while its bottom bracket has been lowered over a typical cyclocross model. Longer and lower equates to faster and more stable over rough terrain. Front and rear eyelets and bosses permit the use of fenders, racks, and panniers to tailor the Volpe to your riding requirements. A reliable parts package from Shimano which includes brakes, hubs, shifters, and derailleur ensures precision and durability. To achieve fast rides from full aerodynamic performance, it is important that both the bike and the rider are as aerodynamically efficient as possible. Our design and engineering teams analyze data from extensive research and development and incorporate performance improvements into all new models. The ARIA's advanced aerodynamic design has been heavily inspired by our extensive wind-tunnel testing, ride data collection, and feedback from our pro riders. For the bike, full aerodynamic performance means the shape of the tubes' profiles and their structural combination to cheat the wind's resistance, resulting in the lowest drag possible. For the rider, full aerodynamic performance means creating a position that allows for the least air resistance. Rider aerodynamics are achieved with an ideal frame and fork racing geometry that allows for an advanced tuck position. Aero frame plus aero rider position equals Full Aero.

Colnago Master X

The Colnago Master X-Light is, in many ways, the definitive Colnago frameset. It's a lugged, plated, painted steel bike with the distinctive fork, tube shapes, and paint that placed it apart from the pack. It first appeared thirty years ago built and painted, as always, by hand in Italy.

The frameset is exactly where it has always appeared in the Colnago lineup. The tubing, DT15V steel, is identical to the tubing they used before. When the bike was built last, it was with a tubeset that was a joint effort between Columbus and Colnago. Columbus isn't making the tubes anymore, so Colnago tracked down the guy who drew the tubes, brought him the dies, and he produced them for Colnago. So you get the same mix of star-shaped and round tubes. They are joined by the same lugs. The straight-blade Precisa fork, revolutionary when it first appeared. And so is the chrome-plating, and the luxurious, detailed paint. Even with all this going on, the frame is a relatively svelte 1400g.

The big deal with all the pieces is how they work together with the geometry for an incredible ride. The straight blade fork is precise and compliant thanks to the rake and internal tapering. The star-shaped tubes resist the torsional forces of pedaling and the round stays keep the bike comfortable. The ride is fast, stable, and comfortable. Great for riding long, great for riding hard, great for riding long and hard. If you ever wonder what the DNA of a Colnago ride is, ride this bike, and you'll know it.

And the paint scheme! The paint applied over the chrome is the acme of Colnago's fascination with fun and funky detailing. Fades, bright contrasts, intricate graphics, its all here.

The frameset sports the same 1" steerer tube, though this time with a threadless steerer. Italian-threaded bottom bracket. 27.2mm seat tube diameter. Room for 25mm tires. Two bottle braze-ons. Plated braze-on front derailleur tab. Integrated seat clamp with pin included. Vertical dropouts.

The Colnago Master X-Light frameset is the extra light bike of yore, 30 years young. Its ride is now as it was then, a joy like no other.

The Colnago Master X is built in sizes from 49 to 65cm in 1 cm increments and in seven colors. We Currently have a 57cm frame in the white, PR99 color scheme in stock. For more information please contact the Colnago experts of Lakeside Bicycles by phone (W-F 10-7, Sat 10-6, or Sun 12-5) at 503-699-8665 or via e-mail at Info@Lakeside-Bikes.com

55cm Colnago C60

Since the debut of the C40, Colnago’s C-series frames have combined history and technology along with a soupcon of passion and guts. The C60 is no exception.

Ernesto Colnago decided: It must be stiffer, and lighter, but also must retain the company’s iconic Master star-shaped tubes. It must be built for longevity, and that ride quality must be the primary goal. It must be fast, but there is no need to eek every ounce of performance at the expense of style. “An emotional bike, with soul,” Ernesto says.  Italian soul manifested in a technological tour de force.

Like all 'C' models, the C60 was built in Colnago’s Cambiago, Italy, facility, across the street from the home of Ernesto Colnago and painted at Colnago's facility in Tuscany.   The company’s premier frames, including the steel Master x Lite and the C-series, are still “fatto in Italia."

The C60 retained the C59's Master star shaped, lugged tubes, is 140 grams lighter and a lot stiffer.  Similarities end there.  Compared with the C59, everything is bigger, wider, and stiffer.

Lakeside Bicycles currently has one C60 in stock, a 55cm standard geometry frame in the MHCF color.  Guaranteed to accept a 25mm tire (though, when pressed, Colnago admitted that most 28mm tires will fit as well.)  Warranty is three years if registered within 11 days of purchase or 2 years otherwise.  The frame is complete with matching fork, seatpost and headset.  If you have any questions, please contact the Colnago experts of Lakeside Bicycles by phone (W-F 10-7, Sat 10-6, or Sun 12-5) at 503-699-8665 or via e-mail at Info@Lakeside-Bikes.com.

Colnago C64 top tube

For those unfamiliar with the C64’s lineage, the C-series is a handmade carbon bicycle dynasty.  It’s iconic for its crimped tube shapes and carbon lugs yet harks back to the stylish looks of classic steel builders. All C-bikes have always been available in custom geometry, and they’ve been at the forefront when it comes to technology, too.

While some have complained that the C64 looks very similar to its predecessor, a major visual change is in the seat tube and seatpost. Where the C60 used a lug to join the top tube, seat tube and seatstays, the C64’s lug and seat tube are moulded as a single piece. It means the frame is a little more like a monocoque carbon frame and can use the same aerodynamically shaped seatpost as Colnago’s V2-R.

One of the biggest changes is a very simple one.  Where the C60 struggled to fit 25mm tyres, the C64 boasts clearance of at least 28mm.

In a polls of professional riders taken every year since the introduction of the C40 in 1994, when asked what bike they would most prefer to ride the overwhelming choice has been the Colnago C-frame.

For more information please contact the Colnago experts of Lakeside Bicycles by phone (W-F 10-7, Sat 10-6 or Sun 12-5) at 503-699-8665 or via e-mail at Info@Lakeside-Bikes.com.  One final note: The BDBL 54s frame listed here is a 2019 model and is the only frame we have available.

Colnago: Classic Italian Bicycles

Colnago has a number of top-tier carbon fibre race bikes in its line-up. There’s the Italian-made lugged-construction C64, the latest in the iconic C-series. There’s the Concept, the company’s answer to an aero racer. And there’s the V series, an all-round racer that uses a monocoque construction method (like almost every other carbon race bike at the pro level, excluding the C64).

It’s the last of these that Colnago has just updated to the company’s highest stiffness-to-weight ratio bike. The V3Rs and V3Rs Disc replace the V2r, a bike that has commonly been the pick for UAE Team Emirates and the now-defunct Wiggle-High5 women’s race team. And like a scene out of The Walking Dead, the V3r joins a long line of similar-looking, do-it-all, lightweight, stiff, compliant and semi-aero race bikes each of which is hungry for your attention.

What’s new?  Just as we’ve seen with Wilier, Scott and Cannondale, the V3Rs offers stealthy cable integration, dropped seatstays, increased tyre clearance and an overhauled geometry. And while the hefty cable integration is kept for the disc-brake version, there is a direct-mount rim brake version, as well.

The Colnago V3rs Somewhat simpler, the rim brake version offers direct-mount brakes and brake cable routing that’s not guided through the stem or headtube. Compared to the V2-r, the new frame is stiffer by 12% at the rear and 6% at the front, all while dropping some 50g of frame weight. A raw, unpainted, 52cm disc-version of the V3Rs weighed in at 790g, with an uncut fork at 390g.

However, at a guess, the cable integration found in the disc-version will add back any weight saved. And while Colnago hasn’t said by how much, the new frame is apparently more compliant, too. Part of that may be the overhauled carbon layup, or dropped seatstays allowing more seat tube flex. Another reason may be the new headset that offers surrounding composite material designed to aid in compliance — a feature borrowed from Colnago’s Concept and C64 bikes.

Colnago V3rs The geometry has been overhauled, but it remains race-orientated. Much like the new Scott Addict, the V3r is optimised for 28c tyres (it can apparently squeeze in 30c, although Colnago’s own literature says otherwise), and the geometry and fork have been revamped to retain a race bike fit and feel. For this, the bottom bracket has been lowered and the fork length increased, matched with a shorter head tube. With a sloping geometry, the stack and reach figures are now more linear across the eight frame sizes, as well.

While Colnago has made no specific claims about the aerodynamic performance of the V3Rs, it’s clear that with an integrated cockpit, dropped seatstays and seemingly truncated tube shapes, it’ll be faster than its predecessor. That fully integrated cabling is exclusive to the disc-version, and uses Colnago’s own stem and a special threaded fork steerer tube to route both the hydraulic hoses and electronic shift wires through the stem and directly into the head tube.  Colnago has reworked the integrated seat post binder, too, said to be smaller and more secure than what’s found in the V2r and C64. It holds Colnago’s own version of a D-shaped seatpost.

The Colnago V3Rs is available in 8 sloping sizes and 9 colors.  For more information we can be reached at 503-699-8665 or info@Lakeside-Bikes.com

$7,400.00

Colnago is pleased to present its first bicycle designed to go on any surface, from smooth asphalt to light offroad.

Ride longer, ride further - even when the tarmac ends Compared to the C68 Road, the C68 Allroad has a shorter reach and a higher stack. The rider’s upper body stays in a more upright position and their arms are less stretched out. This takes some weight off the hands and puts more on the saddle resulting in a more comfortable ride, especially on rough surfaces or during long rides.

The C68 Allroad has greater tire clearance than the Road model, up to 35mm. Furthermore, to improve the performance on bumpy surfaces, the shape of the down tube is slightly different from the road version, and the chainstays and the seatstays are reinforced. The result is the same superior ride feeling as the C68 Road, but enhanced for bigger adventures: you can ride on many different surfaces, i.e. dirt roads and uneven paths.

Proudly Made in Italy Colnago bikes are not meant to be ordinary. Following the tradition of the Colnago C Series, the C68 Allroad is true to it's underlaying DNA, composed of several modular parts assembled together by the hands. Some of the joints are left visible, while others have been masked with a complex process of bandaging. The result is a visually seamless frame, with slightly proud head tube and seat cluster. The C68 Allroad, like every C Series Colnago, is dedicated to all those who are able to appreciate the fine art of crafting bicycles.

Designed to work with the Colnago CC.10 Inegreated Handlebar, The Colnago C68 Allroad is available in two colors (HABG and HADK) and six sloping sizes for electronic gruppos and disc wheels only.  For more information, please click this link or call or write the Colnago aficionados of Lakeside Bicycles by phone (503-699-8665 10-7 W-F, 10-6 Sat, or 12-5 Sun) or by email at Info@Lakeside-Bikes.com

Intorducing the Magnificent, New Colnago C68

Introducing the C68

Of the entire Colnago range the model which revolutionizes the concept of 'handmade in Italy', while its DNA and the concept of multiple parts is maintained.  In the future the C68 will be available in three versions:  Road, Allroad, and Gravel all of which will share the same, totally new soul based on performance while also maximizing rider enjoyment.  Clean design, integration and modernity are at the core of the project.

The C68 Road will also be availble in a limited edition version employing 3D printed titanium parts intended for an even more exclusive and technologically-oriented audience.  We are even hoping someday ("Someday" in Italian translates losely as "Maybe two years, maybe never") to realize the option of a "made-to-measure" frame:  the widest range of choices and customization options in the Colnago world.

This rather large bicycle was owned and lovingly maintained by local racing legend Robert Burney, This thoroughbred represents the pinnacle of titanium bicycle construction. Built of cold-worked 6Al/4V titanium (a stronger alloy than the more common 3Al/2.5V and further strengthened by the cold working [shaping of the tubes, which is easiest to see in the curved seatstays]), the frame allows a total bike weight below 17 pounds. Climb on and go, and most surprising is that this featherweight frame also provides jaw-dropping performance. Sprint, climb, hammer, spin and you’ll swear the bike is alive, reacting to every pedal stroke, helping you. It’s the combination of a frame material that has a springy, “alive” quality and Litespeed’s craftsmanship. Working with titanium since the 1940s, they figured out ways to optimize the handling and ride of their bikes by manipulating the tube shapes to provide only the best characteristics. You feel the effect of these shaped tubes right away. The Vortex sings as you spin down the road, iIt’s like having your own tailwind along for every ride. It’s hard to put a price on such a magical ride. The crazy thing is, it’s race-ready, but at the same time, the ride is velvety-smooth. You can get almost Vortex-like performance and approach its weight in other frames such as oversize-aluminum models, but you can pay a price for it in a rigid, unforgiving ride. On the Vortex, you glide over rough roads and finish long days much more relaxed. While these traits set the Vortex apart from other dream rigs, all frames made of titanium offer another wonderful perk: the magic metal won’t rust or corrode and is impressively dent-resistant. You can ride for hours in the rain on bad roads, and while you might trash your components, with just a little soap and suds, the frame will be perfect again. And say you don’t get around to cleaning the bike right away (about the worst thing you can do after a rainy ride)? The Vortex is completely unfazed by the elements. So, while the Vortex was one of the more expensive road bikes available. Considering that it rides like the wind it’s named after and should outlast a dozen lesser road rockets, it could prove to be the best and last money you ever spend on a dream machine. I’ve ridden dozens of top-line road bikes and liked many of them a lot. But, the Vortex is a keeper, one of the most enjoyable racers I own and still the one I ride the most. Following it’s release in 1994, the C40 was ridden to victory in some of cycling’s biggest races. Most notably 5 wins in Paris Roubaix – over the roughest road surfaces found in professional racing. The C40 name originates from ‘C’ for Carbon and ’40’ in recognition of Colnago’s 40th anniversary. It was in production for approximately 10 years (1994 – 2004). In an interview with Ernesto Colnago, the C40 was listed as one of his favorite bikes. Indeed, year after year when members of the pro-peloton were asked what bike they would most like to ride, the overwhelming choice has been the C40 and it's successor Carbon lug frames including the C50, C59, C60 and the current C64. We could go on and on. What distinguishes this frame is the Geo paint scheme, hand painted by desperate Tuscan artisans, and out of production since they last went on strike for relief from lives of seemingly impossible detail. This frame comes with a complete, pre-ultra torque Chorus grupo, Real Design wheels, ultra-cool Cinelli RAM integrated handle bar/stem and a slightly damaged Fizik Aliante saddle. There is minor damage to the finish. Sold as-is and without warranty, for more information we can be reached at 503-699-8665 or info@lakeside-bikes.com

The Sutra is many things. It's functional. It's stylish. It's incredibly versatile, and it comes ready for the long haul on the bike tour of your dreams. Our Kona Cromoly steel frame is outfitted with a Brooks saddle and microfiber bar tape, integrated shifter/brake levers, proper fenders and a real Tubus Tara Big Apple low-rider front rack. It's a modern take on the classic touring bike. It's a grocery getter that's easy on the eyes. It's the feeling of steel across pavement that reminds you why you love turning the cranks on long rides. Just like its name suggests it's the perfect guide for your every ride. KONA CROMOLY Very few materials offer as much shock absorption, durability and supple-ride characteristics as steel. We've never strayed from cycling's original material and have worked tirelessly to adapt, refine and innovate Kona Cromoly framesets as rider demands continue to evolve. TAPERED HEAD TUBE More girth at the bottom of the head tube better distributes shock force, prolonging the bearing life of the headset itself and eliminating brake shudder, while providing confident steering performance. The inherent strength of its triangular design also means a stronger steering position and improved balance, giving the rider more control in rough terrain. A zero-stack, tapered head tube also puts strength where the load is going—into the lower headset cup—maximizing bearing durability where it's needed. TUBELESS COMPATIBLE RIMS Tubeless rims allow for tires with more puncture resistance; the ability to run lower tire pressure, which provides better tire grip on the trail; lower rolling resistance; and weight savings over traditional tube and tire systems. 12x142mm AXLE 12x142mm, 12x148 and 12x157 rear axle standards provide two major advantages to the Kona rider: the 12mm diameter of the rear axle provides the rear hub and frame with a stiff interface, while the 142/148/157mm outer diameter of the hub allows the wheel to be quickly and properly positioned in the frame before the rear axle is inserted.

The Sutra LTD is one of those bikes that just changes everything. You thought you were a mountain biker, but you find yourself sneaking off on adventures and enjoying the drop bars on the LTD. You thought you were a roadie but find yourself absolutely destroying singletrack when no one else is looking and suddenly it's all you wanna do! That's the best part about the Sutra LTD—it broke the mold of what a bike has to be. It's got bigger tires, burlier construction, and enough mounts to hold a horse. But who needs a horse when this is your horse?

Kona Bicycles

Commuters have been asking for a beefed-up version of the Dew-E, and our answer is the creatively named Dew-E DL. An aluminum frame features a Kona Rove Verso Full Carbon Flat Mount Disc fork, while the 10-speed Shimano Deore drivetrain works in perfect harmony with their E6100 motor. Powered by a 504 Wh battery, your long commute can now be much less taxing. Sturdy aluminum fenders and lights keep you dry and seen throughout your ride. Powerful Shimano hydraulic disc brakes and 160mm rotors stop on a dime, even in wet conditions, and puncture-resistant WTB Horizon TCS 650B x 47 tires keep the road rolling by smoothly whether you're cruising on pavement or a dirt path.

Kona 6061 Aluminum

Kona 7005 and 6061 Aluminum alloys are used extensively throughout our fleet of mountain and asphalt bicycles. A tough, durable, light alloy, both Kona 7005 and 6061 deliver fantastic, reliable performance that lasts for thousands of rides. Much of our 7005/6061 tubing is butted and/or formed, meaning the tubing's wall thickness can be increased or decreased, as well as shaped, so we can fine-tune a particular frame's strength and ride characteristics depending on its intended application.

Internal Headset

Bearing cups are actually pressed into the frame and are easily removable. An internal headset also reduces stack height, so the height of the stem and bars are more adjustable, giving the rider the best fit possible.

Tapered Head Tube

More girth at the bottom of the head tube better distributes shock force, prolonging the bearing life of the headset itself and eliminating brake shudder, while providing confident steering performance. The inherent strength of its triangular design also means a stronger steering position and improved balance, giving the rider more control in rough terrain. A zero-stack, tapered head tube also puts strength where the load is going—into the lower headset cup—maximizing bearing durability where it's needed.

Tubeless Compatible Rims

Tubeless rims allow for tires with more puncture resistance; the ability to run lower tire pressure, which provides better tire grip on the trail; lower rolling resistance; and weight savings over traditional tube and tire systems.

12x142mm Axle

12x142mm, 12x148 and 12x157 rear axle standards provide two major advantages to the Kona rider: the 12mm diameter of the rear axle provides the rear hub and frame with a stiff interface, while the 142/148/157mm outer diameter of the hub allows the wheel to be quickly and properly positioned in the frame before the rear axle is inserted.

650B Wheels

650B wheels and tires have a similar overall diameter to a traditional 700c gravel or commuting tire, but with a smaller diameter rim and a wider, taller tire. The extra air volume in this new generation of urban and mixed-surface tires means they can be run comfortably at lower pressures while still rolling quickly on a variety of surfaces. It's the best of both worlds.

Officina Battaglin: Your Comfortable Ride For One Million Kilometers

The limited-edition Battaglin replica of Stephen Roche’s 1987 Triple Crown frame:

Villach, Austria. September 6th, 1987. Last moments of the World Championships of Road Cycling.  After nearly 7 hours of racing, the rain that had been falling steadily on the circuit since the morning stopped.  The crowd of spectators that had gathered to witness the event now had the chance to see clearly the most talented riders in the world engaging in the battle for the rainbow jersey.

The stakes were high, but until that moment the race hadn’t been a bit of a yawn. Just a few attacks, none of them decisive enough to mark a turning point.  Going into the climb at the beginning of the last lap, the Irish rider Stephen Roche attacked. Sean Kelly, the other star wearing the green jersey, stayed on his wheel. Their team had performed an excellent job.  The action split the group. The riders in the front got rid of most of the competitors, and only 14 racers were left. At this point, there was no other choice to chase the victory but trying to escape.

The Dutch Van Vliet got away. The German Golz followed him. Roche closed the break, and so did Sorensen and Winterberg.  The group of 5 established a small gap, while the riders behind didn’t react. It seemed like they were expecting for Moreno Argentin, the defending World Champion, to chase them down.  Italy was the strongest team in the peloton, and everyone considered Argentin the race favorite.  But the gap widened.

Four hundred meters from the finish line, Roche launched his attack. There was a narrow space between Sorensen and the barriers on the left side of the road. Roche daringly threw himself right there.  While he was approaching, Sorensen inadvertently moved to the left, shutting down that space Roche had chosen to be his way to the finish line.  The chances for the Irish to pass between Sorensen and the barriers were reducing at every pedal stroke.  But when Sorensen and Roche seemed so close that the action could a massive crash, the Danish moved to the right and Roche was out into the open.

He pedaled as hard as he could. This time Argentin responded, but it was too late.  Sprinting certainly wasn’t Roche’s secret weapon. He would have probably lost every time he’d found himself in a sprint with Golz and Van Vliet. Not that day.  On that day Stephen Roche won the 1987 World Championships.

In 1987, Roche was riding a Battaglin bike, which quickly became the icon of professional cycling’s greatest success.  The bike was developed by Giovanni Battaglin at his workshop in Marostica, where all the bikes for the Carrera riders were made, and custom-built to Roche’s specifications.  It was probably the most advanced racing machine on the market, featuring the best equipment available at the time.

With the Officina Battaglin brand, Giovanni has gone back to building exclusive steel frames using the same process and tooling of 30 years ago.  That’s why in 2017 he decided to mark the 30th anniversary of Stephen Roche’s Triple Crown with…the 1987.

Limited Edition Battaglin Verona 2022:

On June 7, 1981, for the first time, the Giro ended in the Verona Arena, the Roman Amphitheater located in the city center.  Giovanni Battaglin won that edition, after a 42-km individual time trial where he didn’t know he had won the Giro until he heard the crowd in the Arena chanting his name.  It was his first Giro victory… And it was special for many other reasons.

Not only did he became the first cyclist to win the Giro in the Arena… Not only did he became the first cyclist from the Veneto region to win a Giro d’Italia…He achieved a record still unmatched: two Grand-Tour victories in just 48 days, the shortest time frame ever.

The city of Verona has changed Giovanni Battaglin’s life forever, laying the foundation for his eponymous bike brand.  In consequence, every time the Giro d’Italia ends in the city of Verona, we like to commemorate the occasion.   In 2022, with the Pink Race’s finishing line inside the Arena for the fifth time, we launched a frame named after the city itself…

Battaglin Marosticana:

“At the time, I used to live in San Luca di Marostica, a small town. Even today, there are little more than 500 residents. It was very small, with only a few people living there, and hardly anybody came to visit. The landscape, though, is a dream for any cyclist: hills at your back, you can ride flat for kilometers, and then start alternating between plains and short ascents (2km max). This is perfect to get your legs going at the start of the year. In the beginning, it’s better not to go uphill for too long, because if you do, you spend too much time with an increased pulse rate— and you’re not in that kind of shape yet. This meant we used to start with short climbs and plains, and then, as the days went by, we would turn towards Monte Grappa and the city of Asiago, to start pushing on longer climbs, up to twenty or so kilometers. That’s how we trained back then: gym and pedals. And that’s about it. We climbed into the saddle in the morning and didn’t stop until it was dark. […]

My day started in San Luca di Marostica. I left home to meet Luciano. I lived on the hills, and he lived on the plains, so we used to meet halfway. We took the road to Schio and Recoaro: it was a pretty hard workout, with two or three climbs. Then we rode to Vicenza, to Luciano’s house, and then I could go back home. By the way: at the time, I used to live at the top of a 6km climb, which was perfect to end the workout session.”

In the Veneto region in North-East of Italy, there’s a road that starts from the city of Vicenza and leads to the province of Treviso. In a span of just 79 km, this road takes you through some of the region’s most beautiful scenery with spectacular mountains, vineyard-covered hills and small villages giving you a glimpse into everyday life in Italy. And as you get closer to the town of Marostica, the world-famous medieval castle standing on a hill appears in front of you. The view is just wonderful.

This road is called Marosticana, and it’s the road that Giovanni Battaglin would take in winter to pedal back home from Vicenza, after a full day of training on his steel bike. For Giovanni, creating the Officina Battaglin steel bike brand many years later meant going back to his roots. That’s why when the time came to give a name to the very first Officina Battaglin model, a lugged frame made from Columbus SL, he thought of those hard workouts through his home region.

And he decided to pay homage to that road he would ride every day with the Marosticana.

Battaglin Portofino:

When Giovanni Battaglin won the Giro-Vuelta double in 1981, he and his teammates rode for 48 days and 7.491 km on steel bikes that weighed more than 8 kgs (17.6 pounds, at that time actually really respectable) and had only 6 gears. It was the only year in history when the Vuelta had no rest days and the Giro started 3 days after the Spanish Grand-Tour finished.  From 1999 the Giro d’Italia course was never longer than 3.600 km – more than 200 km shorter than the 1981 edition.  The same goes for the Vuelta: from 2001 the race route was always shorter than the 1981 edition. How could the riders in the 80s go further than today’s athletes, who ride lighter bikes equipped with better technology?

There might be several explanations for this. But as Giovanni Battaglin often says, those riders could tackle harder competitions because they felt good on their bikes. The level of comfort offered by the lugged steel bikes made in the 80s allowed them to undertake the brutal efforts of those cycling odysseys. Lugs increase the joint area, allowing stresses to distribute over a wider surface and therefore damping vibrations better. In the 80s, lugged construction was the best way to build a race machine. Every bike in the pro peloton was made from skinny tubes and lugs.

Then with larger tubes and new materials, steel lugs quickly disappeared from the market. But even when he gave in to what seemed inevitable and moved from steel to different materials, there was one thing that Giovanni Battaglin couldn’t forget: the smooth feel of those bikes he rode as a pro. No carbon bike could even get close to it. So, when he went back to making steel bikes with Officina Battaglin, a dream took shape in his mind. He wanted to create a new frame that could offer the comfort of the bikes he rode in his racing career. But with the responsiveness and the aesthetics of modern steel frames.

From 2015 he and his son Alex worked for 2 years to develop a special design that no builder had ever done. In 2017, a new frame was born:  For more information about the Battaglin Portofino, or if you would like to begin the process of ordering a frame, you can contact Officina Battaglin direct at: https://officinabattaglin.com/ or the Battaglin experts of Lakeside Bicycles by phone (W-F 10-7, Sat 10-6, or Sun 12-5) at 503-699-8665 or email at Info@Lakeside-Bikes.com

Battaglin Portofino R:

Since its inception, the Portofino has been Officina Battaglin’s flagship model. A lugged steel frame with oversized tubing: it was the perfect blend of the tradition of Italian steel frame building with modern tech and aesthetics.

Over the last few years, the Portofino has seen several updates taking cues from the most advanced race bikes: tapered steerer, disc brakes, fully internal routing. But how close to a modern race-focused thoroughbred could a lugged steel bike get?

Alex and Giovanni Battaglin had been feeling the need to push the Portofino toward the race side for a while. So, when the update project started, they focused on one single goal: achieving an increase in frame stiffness without compromising on comfort.

First, they opted for a very different approach to the frame geometry by drastically lowering the seat stays. This implied redesigning the seat lug, which took a sharp departure from the classic shape accommodating the seat stays. But the new geometry also led to several adjustments to the rear triangle, with new flat chainstays and a new proprietary dropout. From there, the tubing diameters were increased.

All combined, these major revisions led to the most dramatic change since the launch of the Portofino, the fastest Portofino version to date:

The Portofino R retains the Portofino Classic’s distinctive identity. It’s a frame that prioritizes rider comfort, so you can enjoy the unparalleled smoothness of a handcrafted lugged steel bike. But it won’t take more than a few pedal strokes to feel like a pro on a breakaway: thanks to the increased stiffness, the Portofino R will give you the sensation you’re transferring every single watt of energy to the ground, with more power than ever.

"If steel wanted to race on a steel bike, it would buy this."

Life means little without something extra. Hidden away in the norther Italian city of Verona there is a workshop. Behind its bird bedecked doors lays a priceless treasure: Dario Pegoretti's workshop. We love these frames. We love the way they ride, the way they climb and reward every ounce of power you can summon and then drop off the top of the climb and guide you down the descent, the way they spring into action when you jump out of the saddle sprinting for the road signs with your mates and the beautiful comfortable ride they provide through a long day in the saddle. Most of all we love the way Dario does his own thing and is gloriously opinionated. He knows weight isn't everything and that ultimately power transfer and comfort are what matter most to his customers. He is innovative (check out the Reponsorium) but not for the sake of it and never to follow fashion. If you buy a Pegoretti you are buying into Dario's knowledge, his artistry and a great Italian framebuilding tradition. If you are after the latest ultra-lightweight, compact frame from the most exotic material look elsewhere, but if you are after the bike of a lifetime look no further. Dario Pegoretti credits Gino Milani for teaching him the science and the art of building bicycles. From there, Dario moved to his own workshop, where he continued to build frames. Pegoretti was amongst the first of the European framebuilders to embrace lugless TIG welding to build premium bicycles. In addition Dario worked with leading edge manufacturers, such as Excell and Dedacciai, in the development of new materials and tube sets. He earned a strong following among professional riders, and built bikes for a number of elite teams. Recently Dario moved to a new workshop where he builds a small number of fine frames, by hand, each year. In this age of mass produced products Dario Pegoretti occupies a unique position as a true individual. Since 2005 Dario has been building all his steel frames exclusively out of Columbus Niobium Spirit tubing insisting that Columbus take the extra step to heat treat the tubes for him. While the stock version of the tubes has very good elongation qualities and thereby provides a nice bit of shock damping, heat treating them gives them a considerable increase in responsiveness under a load, making a Pegoretti feel like it's gliding on a poor road surface to an extent unmatched by other tubesets. If you love bicycles and bicycling then every day you spend without a Pegoretti is a day spent in cycling depravation. Tell your spouse that it is a safety issue. Tell your children that they can go to college some other time. Tell your Priest or Rabbi that it will make you a better person. Tell your Pegoretti dealer that you are ready and then just do it. Everything will be better as a result. The Marcello and Duende frames are available in stock sizes 49cm - 60cm in 1 cm increments. The price includes a one colour paint finish, for other paint designs or custom geometry there is an extra charge of $300. Pegoretti's Duende takes its name from a concept in Spanish art that deals with a heightened state of emotion and authenticity typically associated with Flamenco.

While not quite as stiff as the Round, Mxxxxxo or Responsorium, Duende’s aesthetic is more classic than esoteric.  The Duende is well suited for someone seeking a comfortable all-day bike that does everything well. The tubing – Columbus ZONA – is still “oversized” in the front triangle to optimize stiffness, but with its rear triangle boasting traditional, tapering rear stays and more conventional dropouts for improved comfort.   We offer the Duende as a standard or Cycle Cross frameset, or you can custom order in the geometry of your choice in any of the currently available color schemes includeing Panel, Ciavete or solid colors.

The Marcelo is the flagship steel bike from the most revered frame builder of his generation, it is what Dario thinks a steel race bicycle should be. Should you ever find yourself in Plato's cave, the shadows of steel road frames cast upon the wall, are cast from a Marcelo.

Round tubes attached to round tubes with angelic welds, the Marcelo you hold in your hands is merely the obvious manifestation of Dario's genius. Dig deeper and you will find the fanatic attention to detail that has driven the tubing manufacturers at Columbus mad. Every element of design and manufacture brings his vision exactly to life. Each custom drawn tube is a little bit wider here and somewhat thinner there such that each Marcelo manifests a dreamlike ride quality worthy of it's Pegoretti badge.

The Marcelo is made from Dario's own version of the Columbus heat-treated LIFE tubeset, the top steel alloy currently available for bicycle construction. His oversized version of LIFE makes the race-inspired ride of the Marcelo possible. It is stiff and responsive with the snappy, lively feel and results in a smooth and damped ride combined with taught, stiff responsiveness under power. The Marcelo gives up nothing when compared to other super premium frames no mater of what material.

The Pegoretti hooded dropouts are intricately machined stainless steel, stunning to behold and capable of absorbing hard wheel-in, wheel-out abuse. The chainstays are thick (18mm) and taper gracefully toward the bottom bracket to allow for stiffness and adequate tire clearance.

The Marcelo comes with Pegoretti's Falz full carbon fork. After an an exhaustive search failed to find any fork on the market to meet his specifications, Dario designed and Columbus made his own.

And the finish! - that famous Pegoretti paint. Hand applied with the same mystical attention to detail as the rest of the manufacturing process, if you don't like it, Picasso is probably beyond you as well.

We offer the Marcelo as a standard frameset or you can custom order in the geometry of your choice in any of the currently available color schemes including Panel, Ciavete or (though God knows why you would) solid colors. We would be happy to consult with you about a complete bike or a parts package to compliment your Pegoretti frameset. The Marcelo comes with a Falz fork and a custom designed Chris King D11 headset. It uses a 31.6 seatpost and comes with a custom, Pegoretti designed derailleur clamp. The bottom bracket is Italian threaded.

Should you come to the reasonable decision to own a Marcelo, please allow the enthusiasts at Lakeside Bicycles to offer your their assistance. "Because even intellectuals fall in love at least three times in their lifetimes."

Replacing the 8:30 AM (another name inspried by a Zappa tune) in 2006, Pegoretti's Love#3 was an aluminum rendering of the Marcelo. Being aluminium, Dario considered the Love #3 to be a mercenary frameset of sorts -- it's a "pure race bike" that "50% of the people want, and 70% of them don't need." The oversized chainstays (30mm) and large diameter main tubes of Columbus XLR8 Scandium were custom drawn to Dario's specifications. The tubes were relatively thick-walled, in deference to Dario's concern with the ride quality and longevity of his frames rather than with a mindless quest to shave grams (though, at 1225g in the 54cm frame, we were able to break the UCI's weight limit without breaking a sweat). As usual, the attention to detail is mind blowing. .

Beautiful as it was, the Love #3 was well suited for hard riding and racing. Owners report that, unlike any other alloy frame they have known, the Love#3 had a Marcelo-like ride: smooth, comfortable, predictable on descents and very fast. All exactly what you would expect in a race specific frame.

The new Love#3 respects the original's killer feel and shares most of it's design features, but boasts a larger diameter headtube of 43mm, up from 39mm on the original.  The new headtube is stiffer and blends better with the rest of the frames custom, oversized Columbus 7.5 Alloy tubing.  Along with improved performance, the larger headtube necessitated an entirely new D19 headset designed as a collaberation between Chris King and Pegoretti, and based on the venerable Chris King NoThreadSettm

From his super-human welds and museum quality finish to the frame's aggressive stance everything is a bespoke reflection of the artist's vision. Unique among Pegorettis the Love#3 features removable derailleur hanger bolted to oversized, hooded alloy dropouts. It uses an Italian threaded bottom bracket, a 31.6mm seatpost and includes a Chris King D19 1 1/8" headset and a Falz fork

Inspired by the Argentine musician Dino Saluzzi's album of the same name,  the Responsorium blends custom drawn Columbus XCR stainless steel tubing with Pegoretti's signature hooded dropouts, 16mm cylindrical non-tapering stays, thinner tube walls and more extensive butting made possible by XCR's superior strength (20% stronger than Columbus Niobim Spirit) to produce the lightest (100g less than the Marcelo), most vertically compliant frame in the Pegoretti line-up.

The 55cm frame comes in at a respectable 1678g and the Falz fork at 425g. Each frame comes with a Falz fork painted to match the base frame color and a Chris King D11 headset. The Responsorium takes a 31.6 mm seatpost and a comes with a custom 32mm front derailleur clamp. As with all caliper Pegorettis, the Responsorium comes standard with an Italian threaded bottom bracket. Due to the constraints imposed by hydraulic hose routing, the disc version is exclusively available with an English bottom bracket.  XCr is being run exclusively for Pegoretti, so it will remain in short supply, if you can't find what you are looking for in existing inventories, we suggest you order now. Lead times are over six months and there is little or no chance your dream frame will "just show up".

Both Caliper and disc versions of the Responsorium are the only Pegorettis with a weight limit, if you are over 120kg (264lb) or plan on becoming over 120kg (264 lb), you will need to consider something else.   The Responsorium is available in both caliper and disc versions in 1cm increments from 48 to 60cm in standard Pegoretti geometires, or you can custom order in the geometry of your choice in any of the currently available color schemes including Panal, Ciavette, or (though we cannot imagine why you would) in a solid color.

Should you come to the reasonable decision to own a Pegoretti Responsorium, please allow the enthusiasts at Lakeside Bicycles to offer your their assistance. Named after a Nick Drake song as covered by the jazz pianist Brad Mehldau, Day Is Done is the most recent addition to Dario Pegoretti's lexicon of steel framesets.

The Day is Done was developed as a performance lugged steel frame employing classic construction techniques and the benefits of oversized tubing.  The headtube is 7mm shorter than a TIG-welded frame, though a "ring" can be added to the upper lug to increase it's height if requested.

Heat treated Columbus Spirit Niobium tubing is based on the tubeset designed for the Marcelo with modifications to optimize it for lugged construction.. The Cadnezia oversized lugset was developed in a collaboration between Dario and Darrell McCulloch of Llewellyn Bikes in Australia. The rear dropout attachment is amended with a hollow tube through the stays offering an increased surface for brazing and providing a striking visual effect. The brazed tube also increases lateral rigidity of the chainstay at the critical juncture with the dropout

Building lugged frames is a more gentle and time consuming process than TIG welding.  In addition to cutting and milling, each tube must be fitted to a hand tapered lug and then, patiently silver brazed together at relatively low (600o C to 900oC) temperatures.  Due to the low temperatures and reinforcing of the lugs, this process results in an extremely strong and readily repairable frame.  In the hands of a superior builder working without time constraints, lugged steel represents the pinnacle of bicyle frame esthetics

“There is a reason for the “holes” in the stays at the dropouts. The small cylinders that are brazed into the stays give more surface area to braze the dropout. Since Dario likes to use non-tapering stays, he can’t use conventional dropouts as there wouldn’t be enough contact area. This is an alternative to using the “hooded” dropouts he uses on the Marcelo and Responsorium that he feels fits better with a lugged frame." -Nelson Frazier, Gita Sporting Goods

Few frames touch the heart-strings of steel afficianados as the Luigino. Through the Luigino Dario pays homage his favourite builders of those bygone days - Luigino Milani and Mario Confente.

One modern touch is, instead of sticking with the smaller diameter tubes of past decades, Pegoretti uses slightly oversized tubes to offer superior stiffness and responsiveness. One of the most striking details of the Luigino is its double-plate crown steel fork. Forks with box-style crowns offer the ultimate responsiveness to rider input, and the Luigino's double-plate design is a marvel of modern machining, bringing the box crown to a new dimension of beauty.

Available in very limited and unpredictable sizes or by special order. 27.2 seatpost, 28.6 front derailleur, 1" stearer. The Luigino is available in any current color scheme including Panel, Ciavet, or solid colors, though no one at lakeside can imagine why you would choose anything other than Faema.  Pegoretti also offers the Luigino with track fork ends at no extra cost:  if you were looking for the ultimate fixed/single speed frame, your search has ended.

Named for the Frank Zappa/Mothers of Invention song (appears on the 'B' side of the CD release of "Absolutely Free") and for Dario's mother, Big Leg Emma is based on the Marcello with the addition of oversized tubes (22mm chainstays vs. the Marcello's 18mm) and internal re-enforcing gussets. It is, by far, the stiffest steel frame in Dario's stable and is designed for Clydesdales or over-quadded crit specialists. If you need a 60 or 62cm frame, it is probably your baby.

After you hear it described, the design elements of the Big Leg Emma are straight forward: One, that wider diameter tubes are less prone to flexing under load. Two, the down tube and the chainstays directly effect bottom bracket deflection. It is all pretty obvious until you add a sprinkle of Pegoretti genius.

External covers on the downt tube of the Pegoretti Big Leg Emma.To get there Dario took a page out of Falerio Masi's book (he used a similar technique to stiffen the chainstays of track bikes during the 70's) and added gussets (stiffeners) to the oversized downtube. Prior to welding up the frame, Dario laser cuts several small grooves into either side of the downtube. He then brazes in horizontal anti-flex plates and finishes it off by brazing ornamental covers over the incisions. At the end of the day Dario achieves his goal of an uncompromisingly stiff race frame without sacrificing vertical compliance or aesthetics.

The Big Leg Emma is available only by special order, We ask for a full deposit in return for which I will gently annoy the people at Gita on a weekly basis until your baby arrives. I have no idea how long it is going to take to get here (18 to 30 months is a guess and probably wrong) but I guarantee it will be worth the wait. The Round, Pegoretti's latest frame, came to life over long lunches at the Bottega, and even longer deliberations by the espresso machine about it's place in the Pegoretti line-up.

For some time the Pegoretti community has been asking for the Bottega to take the exceptional performance of the Marcelo and develop it into a new model in stainless steel.  The Round is their response:  an incredibly reactive frame built for the rider seeking a no-compromise steel speed machine.

The Round blends bespoke Columbus XCR tubing with 3D printed stainless steel dropouts, and a new rear triangle and brake bridge design that affords superior lateral stiffness and responsiveness.

Named in honor of Dario Pegoretti's sign-off handle by which he was known to friends and customers alike, the Round features an original graphic called "Texas Flood", inspired by Dario's love for the music of Stevie Ray Vaughan, the city of Austin, Texas, and a certain colorful cowboy belt he brough back with him from that same city.

We offer the Round as a standard caliper or disc frameset or you can custom order in the geometry of your choice in any of the currently available color schemes including Panel, Ciavete or (though God knows why you would) solid colors. We would be happy to consult with you about a complete bike or a parts package to compliment your Pegoretti frameset. The Round comes with a Falz fork and a custom designed Chris King D11 headset. It uses a 31.6 seatpost and comes with a custom, Pegoretti designed derailleur clamp. The bottom bracket is Italian threaded for the caliper frame or, due to constraints resulting from hydraulic hose routing, English threaded for the disc version.

Should you come to the reasonable decision to own a Pegoretti Round, please allow the enthusiasts at Lakeside Bicycles to offer your their assistance. Pinarelo Dogma F

"Seven of the last 10 Tours de France have been conquered on a DOGMA, and the latest generation is now ready to continue that legacy of success. This is the culmination of all of our skill and experience, a masterpiece of engineering that offers advancements in handling, comfort, and aerodynamics all wrapped in a package that can climb, descend, and sprint with equal flair. Whatever the road throws at you, the DOGMA F is always the right bike."

When you have a frame that delivers not only incredible efficiency in lab and wind tunnel tests, but also regularly carries top riders to the podium throughout the road race calendar, improvements tend to be incremental refinements developed through even more advanced analysis and real world testing. In it's day the Pinarello Dogma F12 frameset was the benchmark, which didn't give the deranged geniuses at Pinarello even one moment's pause in their perpetual quest to build the world's next super bike.

Pinarello has long stated that weight is less an issue than the balance of aero efficiency, maximized power transfer, superior handling, and a more forgiving ride- but when faced with the excellence of the Dogma F12, it became clear that by assessing the whole assembly of the integrated cockpit and frameset, the overall set-up could be made lighter as well. By focusing on the seatpost, handlebars, and fork, as well as the frame, they were able to make the entire frame system 9% lighter than the F12 Disk.

Enter the Dogma F Disk. As a system, the Pinarello Dogma F Disk saves upwards of 265 grams compared to it's predecessor, while simultaneously gaining 12% stiffness around the bottom bracket. Reducing weight equals watts saved, but what is incredible is that the frame system weighs so little without compromising aerodynamics, handling, or ride quality. In fact, the Dogma F Disk has a lower drag than the Dogma F rim brake frame- a first for Pinarello.

Much of the disc brake aero advantage comes with the development of the new Onda fork for the Dogma F. The forks profile and cross sections improve fork and wheel integration, aerodynamically speaking, in order to smooth the air over the leading edge of the bike. Add in the Flatback aero shape design with it's truncated aerofoil for aerodynamic advantage, that is compliant to the 3:1 UCI rule, and you have excellent aero performance and low lateral wind resistance.

Beginning with the Dogma FPX AK61 Magnesium and continuing through the F10 and F12 The highest quality, most advanced materials have always been employed in Dogma-series framesets. The F Disk features the superlative properties of Torayca's T1100 1K Dream Carbon with Nanoalloy Technology. By refining the frame shapes and designs in the computer and wind tunnel, some weight directly came off the frame itself, while making several marginal aero gains that deliver a 4.8% improvement in aero efficiency over the F12 Disk, delivering a potential 2.6 watts saved at 50 km/hour. A modest but real gain that advances the demonstrated excellence of the F12 Disk. When you factor in the dropout to dropout Asymmetric engineering and design, which has long been proven effective for optimal power transfer, impeccable tracking, incredible handling at speed or while descending, and you have true cycling transcendence.

The Winner:

We upped the ante with Sage’s award-winning road machine, the Skyline, by setting it up to be the All-Road/ All-Round Road Race bike it was always destined to be. “Precise,” “agile,” “terrific craftsmanship” and “titanium rocket” are the phrases of choice from professional testers. But this isn’t just a bike for the cycling media. It’s a sleek and sexy titanium space ship built to inspire the masses.

With a design that blends refined simplicity and outright performance, the Skyline occupies an enviable niche in the cycling world. It climbs mountains as confidently as it rips sinuous descents, and it launches snappy attacks without compromising comfort on all-day adventures. It’s a looker in the showroom that shines even brighter out on the road.

Named after the serpentine Skyline Boulevard that winds along the spine of the West Hills in Portland, Oregon, the bike is built for speed and stability, whether railing through corners or sprinting out of the saddle. It reimagines traditional construction with touches of refinement, blending the class of the past with the performance of the future. The thin-profile seat stays nod to the traditional race bike, yet the frame incorporates high-tech touches–like flat mount disc brakes, a 1.75” down tube, 3/2.5 titanium alloy, compact frame design, an oversized head tube, and even frame fender mounts for winter training. Combined together, these elements give rise to the perfect modern take of a high-performance road race bike.

The finer details, like 3D printed titanium dropouts, are deliberate selections based on a blend of strength and stability. Full internal routing options available so that you can hide ALL of your cables and wires for the ultimate in sleek design aesthetics. The lusty shimmer of raw titanium finishes off the Skyline’s show-stopping look. It’s the stuff of dreams for the discerning cyclist. It wows. It rips. It inspires.

Available in standard geometries or as a custom frame.  For more information please contact Sage at SageTitanium.Com or the Sage experts of Lakeside Bicycles by phone (W-F 10-7, Sat 10-6, or Sun 12-5) at 503-699-8665 or by email at Info@Lakeside-Bikes.com.

All too often, corners are cut to meet price-points in the entry-level road bike market, but the Allez redefines what it means to be "entry level." Focusing on weight, refinement, and reliability like nothing else in its class, the Allez is the first to make these technologies accessible to everyone. Whether you're just getting into road cycling, commuting, or looking for a new bike, the Allez is just as performance-packed as it is versatile. For the build, this Allez features Shimano's legendary 105 shifting that delivers tremendous performance and value, durable DT R460 alloy wheels, our new super-comfy Body Geometry Bridge saddle, and well-protected RoadSport tires. - Not only does a lightweight bike feel better when you're climbing up a hill, but its also essential when you're carrying your bike up to the 5th floor, and this was at the forefront of the frame design. With a redesigned E5 Alloy frame, the Allez features a class-leading weight. Aggressively thin-walled, yet tough, tubes have been implemented to save weight and this results in over a 450g (1-pound) reduction in the frame and fork alone when compared to some models of yesteryear. - Entry-level road bikes often times feature either alloy or cheap carbon fiber forks that greatly detract from the overall ride quality. But with a full FACT carbon fiber fork, the Allez is better handling, smoother riding, and lower in weight, floating over rough chip-seal and carving through corners like a slalom skier. - For the geometry, we developed the Allez by utilizing our vast Retul fit database. This meant creating a geometry that's sure to cover a broad range of positions, while still providing the performance-minded handling you'd expect from your first bike. - This Allez also features integrated rack and fender mounts, allowing you to get weight of your backpack off you and onto a lightweight rack. This not only makes for a good road bike, but it also enables you to transform it into a fast commuter.
