Introducing the C68

Of the entire Colnago range the model which revolutionizes the concept of ‘handmade in Italy’, while its DNA and the concept of multiple parts is maintained.  In the future the C68 will be available in three versions:  Road, Allroad, and Gravel all of which will share the same, totally new soul based on performance while also maximizing rider enjoyment.  Clean design, integration and modernity are at the core of the project.

The C68 Road will also be availble in a limited edition version employing 3D printed titanium parts intended for an even more exclusive and technologically-oriented audience.  We are even hoping someday (“Someday” in Italian translates losely as “Maybe two years, maybe never”) to realize the option of a “made-to-measure” frame:  the widest range of choices and customization options in the Colnago world.

Fork
The fork changes from the previous TFS ‘D’ shape and the complex internal rib and full length bonded metal thread bolt for a much simpler, elegant, and much lighter round 1-1/8″ tube. To run the brake housing inside Colnago has adopted a special, patented eccentric headset system, without having to resuort to a larger, cumbersome and heavy 1.5″ bearing
Bottom Bracket
The C68 boasts a revised bottom bracket, switching from their prvious TF82.5 to a more “standard” and easy to find T47. The system works in the same way as the T45, with an oversized bottom bracket shell and internal bearings housed in alloy, threaded cups. The C68 can be assembled with a standard bottom bracket from SRAM and CAMPAGNOLO while premium products such as CeramicSpeed and Chris King are available for compatibility with Shimano 24mm axles.
From Lugs to Parts
The number of parts that complete the frame is the same as the C64 despite which, from an aesthetic point of view, the C68’s lines and styling are more similar to monocoque frames. There are still some visible joints in the C68 which trace back to it’s roots, while other joints are now invisible resulting and a novel, streamlined design.
HeadTube
The new split headtube is stronger, lighter, and more customizable than ever. The new layout allows stack and reach variations, along with improved stiffness for a riding experience enhanced even by comparison to the C64.
Integrated Multitool
The switch back to a round steerer tube allowed Colnaog to add a unique touch of “we ride too” into the C68.  At some point during some ride everyone eventually needs a multitool.  A nut may have come loose, a tire may need to be changed.  In recognition of that inevitable reality the people at Colnago decided to take advantage of the empty space under the C68’s headset cap.  Rotate the cap and pull and your minor mechanical is a thing of the past.

  • Frame weight for the 48.5cm is around 925 grams
  • Add 10 grams for the Titanium version
  • Maximum tire width is a generous 32mm
  • The Titanium lugged frame is available as a custom build.
  • Except for the Titanium lugged frame, custom paint schemes are available.
